I think it would be really funny if this caused a mini civil war within the Republican Party, eventually splitting it up into smaller sub-parties.
And if that's what it takes to break up the party duopoly, then even better...

You know, that's not as far-fetched as it sounds! It's like the **** Girls breaking up - everyone thought they were inseparable, and then Geri Halliwell said "peace out," and we ended up with a solo career and four different flavors of **** Could you imagine that in politics? We'd have sub-parties like the Fiscal Conservatives, Tea Party Loyalists, Libertarian Leaning, and Socially Moderate Republicans.
House Republicans are in disarray, this rift over the speaker position will lead to a split amongst their voter base
