For one, the parties themselves have changed since then- even if he did vote one way then and another now, I don’t think it should be problematic. And second, political parties weren’t meant to be cults where you pledge your loyalty to their causes- it’s to serve the people. I’d much more trust and respect someone who openly voted one way because that’s what they felt best than someone who voted strictly based on their own gain.
