Should critical race theory be taught in K-12 education?
On one hand, we should not deny our history; otherwise, students would be taught lies. On the other…
On the other hand, it would be entirely false to teach students that anyone is inherently racist. One is not born racist; one becomes racist through conditioning. What I think is important to teach students is that beneath all layers of conditioning, appearance, etc., we all share the same fundamental Being. In essence, we are all one and the same: pure consciousness. Once one understands and realizes this fact, race is nothing more than a silly, superficial fixation/obsession/etc. of our day and age. However, this does not mean that we should ignore that problem of racism, because it definitely does exist, and is a major problem. I believe that experiential learning (meditation and exposure to people of different backgrounds, ethnicities, etc.) is a more effective way to address the issue of racism than teaching a theory, such as critical race theory, which may have some truth to it, but in my honest opinion, does more harm than good.
