While how the yuan’s value is managed is questionable, along with China’s human rights record, we should establish more industry on our home continent before we substantially raise tariffs. I do believe that there should be higher tariffs (maybe on raw materials and heavy equipment), but not on consumer electronics. I do think that it is worth putting into action, but it should be gradual (simmer the frog, don’t burn it) and not unduly burden the consumer.
