Do not hold them responsible though. Teach them how sad and extreme it was, don’t leave any detail out because it’s too disturbing or sad. Make the reality known. However, encourage kindness. And respect. Regardless of race. Do not blame children of new generations who had nothing to do with it. Acknowledging different skin and celebrate it. Also know that dark skin means disadvantaged, but not weak or incapable or stupid. It makes beautiful.
