We should only support the wind industry if they start making turbines from renewable materials. Furthermore, we should really reconsider our entire renewable discourse. Solar cells are made from metals that are being depleted, and they need to be replaced every generation or less. Wind power is reasonable, but turbines are made from unsustainable materials and could never supply the nation's needs completely. Honestly I think we should try to extract electricity from actual leaves; plant power has been in development for several billion years, and it powers the entire biosphere already. It's not a stretch to harness that system for electricity.
