I believe that children still do not have a fully developed way of thinking, especially regarding choices early on in their lives.

 @WiseJ0intResolutionGreenfrom Maine commented…6mos6MO

It's indeed crucial to consider the mental maturity of young individuals when dealing with such significant decisions.

The decision to transition genders is not one to be taken lightly. A persons feelings about their gender are likely to change overtime, and most especially during their transition from childhood to adulthood. This decision requires a lot of thought to be put into it, and a child's brain isn't developed enough to decide something that can permanently alter their body. You could argue that a parent's mind IS developed enough, but that parent cannot predict how their child will feel about the decision later on in life. No one should be making the decision of gender transitioning except the recipient of the treatment, and only when they are matured enough.

One cannot change their gender. If one thinks they are "born in the wrong body" they should be sent to an insane asylum

  @random17345 from North Carolina commented…5mos5MO

I feel as though wanting to change your gender and feeling like you were born in your own body can definitely be a rational thought, when societal pressure and norms are applied. Considering how differently men and women (in general) act from each other, and how their lifestyles and stereotypes differ, someone may feel as though they fit in with the other sex. I think however, trying to alter your body to achieve this is a potentially harmful way to go about this, with hormone imbalances and such (don't quote me on this, I'm just guessing here). Being a hyperfeminine man or hyperma…  Read more

I think there should only be 2 genders and i believe there are only 2 genders and what you where born with is what you are no need to change it.

 @9GBBGWZ from Oregon agreed…6mos6MO

I think that there are only 2 genders, especially because even if you do transition you aren't the same as a genetically born person of that gender. I also oppose the gender transition process especially for people under the age of 18 as it is an irreversible process that children aren't ready to handel.

 @9GBHWKV from Virginia agreed…6mos6MO

Yes I believe with this comment. If you are in a medical emergency, and you say you are a woman when you are a man, the doctors could end up doing something completely wrong.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas disagreed…6mos6MO

Literally no doctor is going to genuinely ask "are you a man or a woman" and then start blindly operating. Bodies are different even within people of the same sex, and it's literally the doctor's job to assess you as an individual.

 @9GBJQC4 from Pennsylvania agreed…6mos6MO

I think there are 4 genders but I do agree children do not need to change gender, not even with parental permission

 @9G7ZH5B from Georgia disagreed…6mos6MO

Transgenderism is wrong, and with an undeveloped mind you must be borderline retarded to suggest that anyone should give a child permission to get an irreversible procedure with lifelong negative effects

 @9G8D26G from Tennessee agreed…6mos6MO

I am not huge into gender transition. It is against God(Jesus Christ) and not the right thing. You were made how you stay that way.

 @9H4RNMVfrom Virgin Islands disagreed…5mos5MO

If a kid under 18 cant get a tattoo then they shouldnt be allowed to change their gender. They’re too ylung and dont know what they want when they’re under 18

 @9GGVTRX from Pennsylvania disagreed…6mos6MO

Kids from 0 to 18 should not be able to go through surgery to change their gender. They might regret it later on in life and not be happy. I think once they are 18 they will be able to actually decide if they wanna change their gender

 @9GCKT2Q from California disagreed…6mos6MO

There's a big difference between "Mommy can I have this toy?" and "Mommy, I want to go from Michael to Michelle." If parents say yes to both, they're irresponsible parents. One deals with a temporary toy and the other completely shuts down their endocrine system for the rest of their lives. Once the kid grows up, they most likely will hate their parents for allowing their transition and will also result, statistically in the suicidality of the kid.

 @9H2HJG5 from Indiana disagreed…5mos5MO

No child or teenager has the life experience or emotional stability to make that kind of decision or convince anyone else they’re ready. Even some adults aren’t mentally stable enough for something as life altering as gender transitioning

 @9GFYZTBdisagreed…6mos6MO

Children should be able to make their own choice without parental influence. Their brains are not fully formed and they should wait until they are old enough to make this life altering decision.

 @9G2YG9G from Kansas disagreed…7mos7MO

children should not be allowed to perform a life changing surgery which they might regret later. which is an abomination to the Lord.

 @9GX78XX from Ohio disagreed…5mos5MO

It is crucial for a person to be completely developed mentally to be able to make a life-changing decision such as Gender Transition.

 @9GDMFBF from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

Parents are human, and can be just as liable for harmful behavior towards their child as any other individual, intentional or otherwise. Though a parent should have a guiding role in their child's life, measures should be taken to prevent extreme cases in which a parent tries to force a child to transition based on their own designs or aspirations rather than their child. Consent from a parent should not be allowed to supersede a lack of consent from the child.

 @9G8XJDSDemocrat from Florida disagreed…6mos6MO

Children will choose candy over 10,000 dollars at the age bellow 18 so I believe gender transition for children should be abolished

 @9GXV99B from Utah disagreed…5mos5MO

Children should not be allowed to medically transition because there are nor enough non-partisan and longitudinal studies that prove it won't hurt them

 @9H2G9DK from North Dakota disagreed…5mos5MO

Regardless of whether the parent is alright with it or not, it does not change the fact that as children and even teenagers, we are physically, mentally, or emotionally mature. So by offsetting our hormone's natural regulations, we are stunting our development in so many more ways that any really knows or understands.

 @9GHH4M2 from North Carolina disagreed…6mos6MO

Children go with what they see on the internet. They will change there mind. I feel like since our brains dont develop untill we are 25 i feel like it should be 25 to avoid wasting time and money.

 @9GYQJ9S from Minnesota disagreed…5mos5MO

Why do you need to change your gender, it doesn't matter if you feel more like a boy than a girl, that's not how it works you can't just tell everyone that you're a boy if you weren't born as one, I think people are making a way bigger deal out of it than there needs to be, to me I think its pretty obvious that you're supposed to be what you were born as.

Gender transition is just a trend nowadays. You are either born a man or a woman, and if you think you are a woman when you are biologically a man, or vice versa, there is something wrong with your mind. No person under the age of probably 25 has the mental maturity to make that decision, and the people older than that that do make the transition are most likely doing it for attention or for some other reason that would require looking into.

 @9HK4T7X  from Massachusetts disagreed…1mo1MO

Parental rights are very important and parents know their children better than anyone else. However, it is the parents job to protect their children from harm and to maintain the truth. Transgenderism defies truth, the surgeries are irreversible, and can create bad long term affects. Child abuse will never be ok.

 @9JZPH6Y from New York disagreed…2mos2MO

No. Those children and parents could regret it in future years as those transitioning steps can ruin the child's self confidence, hair, genitalia.

 @9JSFVNH from North Carolina disagreed…3mos3MO

The treatments are irreversable, unreliable, and life-ruining in many cases. This is a serious decision that an adult needs to make for themselves.

 @9J8Q9PN from Indiana disagreed…3mos3MO

Parents can impose personal beliefs onto impressionable children. Life-altering decisions like gender transition should only take place after an individual’s brain has fully developed.

 @9HPR6HNConstitution from California agreed…4mos4MO

I belive with parental permission is good when it comes to this situation because what if the person is underage but if their 18 or older than no parental permission is needed.

 @9HGHDDM from Utah disagreed…5mos5MO

Gender Transition can put the recipient in physical danger. You need to wait until the brain near to full development to make that life changing decision.

 @9HFPQDZdisagreed…5mos5MO

Parents can be biased or don't have to be good parents. People who don't deserve to be parents can be parents and children shouldn't do that. With the rise of social media, parents are now having their kids do things they don't want to do more likes and attention. There have been many cases here the child didn't want to transition but the parents made them. Parents can influence children in negative ways and can encourage them to do things they don't want to do. Also, A FEMALE IS A FEMALE AND A MALE IS A MALE

 @9GW587M from Missouri disagreed…6mos6MO

No. Children are too young to make these type of decisions. We do not allow for children to gamble, smoke, drink or even go to war with parent's permission (outside extreme circumstances) so why would we allow for a truly life changing thing to happen to a child?

 @9JFWV4RIndependent from Michigan disagreed…3mos3MO

With such a life-altering, unregulated, and permanent procedure, I take the same stance I take with plastic surgery, and that is children should wait until they are 18. The consequences of figuring out you were wrong after you’ve received GAC is far greater than the consequences of waiting until you are 18.

 @9GWHS38Women’s Equalityfrom Guam disagreed…5mos5MO

No. Children should not be able to transition without a mature mindset. Gender transition is against the scientific and religious nature of the world. Going against something natural, causes negative things such as diseases and complications, thus we should not pursue it.

 @9HS9YZG  from MP disagreed…4mos4MO

Even if parents allow it, it can put serious damage on the child's body.

And the child still lacks thinking skills. If parents are very liberal, they may too easily allow surgery for a child with poor thinking skills. Even, I am currently in my 20s and my thoughts are changing rapidly. Until recently, I was a right-winger, but I changed my leanings to the left.

 @9H57H9MPopulist from Pennsylvania disagreed…5mos5MO

Parents are highly uneducated on the dynamics of gender science, their approval is meaningless. This is child abuse with a high rate of regret and suicide. The mental illness must be addressed first and foremost.

 @9H3VGXRfrom Guam disagreed…5mos5MO

If a parent is to allow their child to transition, the parent should first do research on what exactly they're allowing.
That's the problem, parents will grant permission without actually knowing first.

 @9H2ML6ZDemocrat from Washington disagreed…5mos5MO

Not if this Is a life-changing procedure these children should have a right to choose for themselves when they are older

 @9H27MMW from Missouri disagreed…5mos5MO

A young person who is thinking about changing their gender should have to wait until they are an adult.

 @9GYRFYL from Utah disagreed…5mos5MO

If children are not allowed to smoke, drink, or get tattoos until they are at least 18, they definitely shouldn't be allowed to permanently alter their bodies. It is child abuse.

 @9GR635MGreen from Nevada disagreed…6mos6MO

The child is still making a life changing decision, the parent is only funding the support. A parent should not decide that for you and so, as it is your choice, it should not be until you are mature enough to understand it.

 @9GNMJRFfrom Maine disagreed…6mos6MO

if a person is of a younger age then 18 then they should not be allowed life altering surgerys and medications be it with parental permission or not

 @9FQ7PWQ from California disagreed…7mos7MO

To change your whole life and identity, you should have an informed decision and time to think through what you are about to do. If you are at the stage where you still need parent permission, then you are way to young to change your body for the rest of your life. Think of a tattoo. Not many kids get tattoos until they are old enough to not need parent permission. Gender transition is much larger than just a tattoo, its your whole body.

 @9FL7Z8QRepublican from California disagreed…7mos7MO

You were born either a man or a woman. It's not that hard to look in your pants and figure it out. changing your natural hormones is not good for your body either.

 @9H2MSG6disagreed…5mos5MO

It is acceptable as long as the individual in question is a legal adult and has reached the age of 18 or older.

 @9GQWVNS from Texas disagreed…6mos6MO

Your parent shouldn't let yoou make that kind of decison until you are old enough to decide on ur own
