We do not allow children to drink, smoke, or even vote. The human brain is not fully developed until age 25. Children can not make this decision and must wait until they are adults.

 @9GLQNTLProgressive from Florida disagreed…6mos6MO

Children under 18 are allowed to get any medical procedures if their parents consent. To ban medical procedures related to gender transitioning under 18 you would have to prove how those specific treatments cause harm which we don’t have any objective proof of.

 @9HZ8L7C  from Colorado disagreed…3mos3MO

But greenlighting that surgery, whatever it is, is done by making a honest and informed decision. Doctors are scaring parents by saying things like "Would you rather have a living son, or a dead daughter?" This scares parents into making this decision, rather than looking at the other options available.

And as for the proof of it being harmful, the most in depth, long term study we have shows that people who get these gender affirming procedures done are 27 times more likely to commit suicide. But the doctors don't care, or even don't know about that data. They just take the paycheck. And the parents are left scared and guilty.

Kids shouldn't even be worried about transitioning, they are too young to know whats best for them. Kids also make stupid mistakes and if they transition then they will have to live with that for the rest of their lives.

 @9GNKJ5W from Tennessee disagreed…6mos6MO

Children are becoming suicidal because they cannot be who they want to be, being trans isn't hurting anyone, so let the kids do what they want.

 @9GMXT4B from Georgia agreed…6mos6MO

Wholeheartedly agree. Especially with the rampant lies about the “reversibility” of the hormones and drugs being injected into these children without their proper ability to consent

That studies have shown the vast majority of children will outgrow any dysphoria if they are not medically or socially transitioned, and that suicide rates remain at the same high rate pre and post transition, suggesting transitioning is of dubious benefit.

 @9FBMTDMWomen’s Equality from Pennsylvania disagreed…7mos7MO

While that may be true, if you do not give the child the choice, support, and help they need they may end up dead because of your carelessness.

 @8LC79N5Republican from South Carolina commented…7mos7MO

<p class="excludedBG purifiedBG">And they may end up dead if you do, that is the point of the original comment. In that case, it is better to do nothing. They can always transition as adults, but cannot undo many of the changes if transitioned young.

 @9FWSFVN from California disagreed…7mos7MO

They are making life changing irreversible decisions at a time when your going through both physical and mental changes in their life, once an adult you should be able to do what you want.

 @9FT294Mfrom Maine disagreed…7mos7MO

If a person can't get a tattoo until 18 or drink alcohol at 21. Why at 16 can they surgically remove their own penis?

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas commented…7mos7MO

Because it can be incredibly beneficial for them, and also why not, why do you care..?

 @9FDN3XV from Florida disagreed…7mos7MO

there brain and body has not reached its full development and changing genders could create repercussions in the future.

 @9FBGL67 from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

The yes answer is based on a grouping of relative terms that can't be proven or disproven. It's all just based on the feeling and random thoughts that a child has, not based on any truth objective fact.

 @9FR5XRLfrom North Dakota disagreed…7mos7MO

Adults are free to do whatever they wish but recognize not everyone will agree. However. Children are way too young and should be left out of this. Let the parents raise them how they see fit.

 @9FMVY8K from California agreed…7mos7MO

People may be born with one gender but they can mentally realize at a point they don't feel as the gender they were born with would usually feel.

 @9GW3HCJ from Minnesota disagreed…6mos6MO

The Bible states that God made us in his image and how we were meant to be. He made us male and female.

 @9HPSV7MRepublican from New York disagreed…4mos4MO

People under 18 dont have a fully developed brain and shouldnt be allowed to make drastic changes to their body at such a young age, this may just be a phase.

 @9HPJHT9 from Pennsylvania disagreed…4mos4MO

I don't think you should be able to change your gender until the age of 21 same as drinking smoking or any other things legalise

 @9HP4SCS from North Carolina disagreed…4mos4MO

why would we let children decide what they want to be especially if your born a man you have a purpose to be great and do good for this generation but when the media pushes this idea more onto the new generation the more soft and feminine are created and these arnt the type of men that can run a country and be masculine father figures their sons will need when their stuck up on this absurd idea

Nex Benedict's murder highlights how anti-trans policies can lead to bullying in schools.
On average, 97% of people who are transgender are happy with their decision to transition.
The main reason cited for detransition is social pressure. Recent research by Dr Jack Turban has found that around 90 per cent of people who return to their birth gender in the US don’t do so because of regret or dissatisfaction, but because of pressure from family, school, work, or society in general
Transgender youth reported significantly increased rates of depression, suicidality, and victimization compared to their cisgender peers. Notably, in the past year, one in three transgender youth reported attempting suicide, almost one-third reported being a victim of sexual violence, and more than half reported a two-week period of depression.

 @9GV49KB from Virginia agreed…6mos6MO

There is a 41% suicide rate among transgender youth who are not accepted in their communities, but when they are allowed to transition, this number drops to 4%, which is around the same amount as for cisgender youth.

 @9GJJ56S from North Carolina agreed…6mos6MO

There are studies shown that trans kids have a higher suicide rate when they are without gender affirming care than without and that gender dysphoria is a real thing and that HRT and the surgery help

 @9FQ7PWQ from California disagreed…7mos7MO

Gender transition has become more common over the past decade, especially among young kids. Children have underdeveloped minds, not to mention they are limited from drinking, driving, and voting until they are in their teen almost adult years. To change a child's entire gender, which is completely irreplaceable, when they can't even express their political opinion is ludicrous.

 @9FLLL9TRepublican from Missouri disagreed…7mos7MO

Only 12 percent of people who want to transition as kids still want to as adults, the effects of transitioning cannot be reverted.

 @85HZ8T4Socialist from Washington agreed…7mos7MO

Agree or disagree, private medical decisions are private medical decisions. Treatment for our medical conditions is not open for debate or public input. If I have a medical condition, the treatment I receive should not be dependent on if others agree or disagree with the treatment.

 @9FFGLSDJustice party member from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

no they should not be able to change gender becaseu they will make us as a country weak and passaports change and everything differnt.

 @9F8FPXWWomen’s Equality from Pennsylvania agreed…7mos7MO

Some data is that people a part of the transgender community are more likely to be denied treatment, this results in suicide being the leading cause of death in the trans community.
