As Washington DC has a population of about 693K (which is more than Wyoming's 579K), it is imperative that the area gets officially recognized statehood such that they can maintain self determination for their own region. All regions of the US deserve the opportunity to gain statehood such that they receive the full rights of any other US region. By ignoring the necessity of statehood for Washington DC, one also ignores the concerns of what could potentially be the only most racially diverse state. particularly having a larger representation for Black populations than other states. After all, it is a historically Black city which has had its rules controlled by the whims of congress. This seems to be no accident. Fight for DC statehood.
