Workers unions are sadly necessary because legislation for worker's rights isn't strong enough. However strikes should be when the workers open the gates and let people travel for free, punishing those in charge, rather than other workers.

Just employ more people to work for TfL, increase their wages. Overall, this will lead to more people using the underground, using more public transport and workers won't be so overworked in the long run too.
