What would be your strategy for maintaining public order in a neighborhood without a police presence?

 @9KN9SF9 from California  answered…1yr1Y

I feel that a regulated militia of citizens to fight crime in a non-police area would work. I feel that police must be a thing to maintain order.

 @9KN9VKS from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

to only allow people who won't cause trouble to live there. and make sure people have proper house security

 @9KN9V45 from California  answered…1yr1Y

Making sure that everyone is accounted for, no criminals, rules prehaps, etc.

Could a society function effectively if all its members were completely free to do as they pleased?

 @9H83PC2 from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

No, a society couldn't function properly if everyone were free. There has to be a line of rules and laws that should be followed in order to keep the world in balance and organized. Without any rules or regulations, the world would be in chaos and people could do whatever they want without consequences.

 @9H7X5KQ from Missouri  answered…1yr1Y

 @9H92RJCSocialist from Delaware  answered…1yr1Y

There needs to be rules across society, however in a society without a government they could still be put in place through other means.

 @9H6BNN7from New York  answered…1yr1Y

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

If there were no government safety nets, what alternative methods could we as a community create to support those in need?

 @9HDB2ZB from Tennessee  answered…1yr1Y

Creating community based institutions that support the needs of the community. Perhaps hiring community workers who actually talk to the community and find methods to fulfill those needs.

 @9HD9ZPP  from California  answered…1yr1Y

As a community we could just always show more respect to peoples freedom and opinions no matter how much they differ from our own.

  @8YB3Z64Libertarian from Texas  answered…9mos9MO

Historically and to a lesser extent in the current age, the Church filled that Role. Mutual Aid is a more Liberal alternative.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

How would you handle a situation where your freedom of choice conflicts with the well-being of the community?

 @9H9JHFWGreen from California  commented…1yr1Y

I would choose the choice that does not start conflict with the well-being of the community.

 @9HDJZTZDemocrat from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

If Libertarians means to seek to maximize political freedom and autonomy, emphasizing freedom of choice, voluntary association, and individual judgment, then I think that I should be able to make a choice that doesn't jeopardize the safety of the community.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  commented…1yr1Y

If you're talking about abortion, that actually violates the libertarian principle of non-aggression...

 @9HDJMTY from Indiana  answered…1yr1Y

I would have to know the situation beforehand, as I can put my freedom of choice on hold.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

Can true freedom exist without some form of government structure to uphold it?

 @9H9DG2G from California  commented…1yr1Y

I don't think freedom would be able to exist because of people not following them.

 @9KY6LGG from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

Yes. An absence of government structure does not mean an absence of law. We could return to privatised law, and effectively punish criminals to potentially an even greater extent than we do with government.

Is there a balance between personal choice and the common good, and if so, what does it look like to you?

 @9HH3FPY from California  answered…1yr1Y

There is a balance between personal choice and the common good, but in order to do some common good, sometimes it might require to give up some personal choice. This would be something like obeying your parents. Obeying your parents is considered common good, but sometimes you have to give up part of your personal choice to do whatever you want in order to be good and obey your parents.

 @9JNSDJW from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

I would envision maintaining safety and order by people and keeping a safe, calm environment.

 @9JNSHC4 from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

I would vision people would hopefully still own self defense weapons. But i would also hope these communities would be more selective and generally less violent than other areas that need police

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

Without any government safety standards, how would you evaluate the safety of products you buy?

 @9K99KQ9 from Arizona  answered…1yr1Y

I would use the judgement of percieving the effects of which stem from consuming or using a product. I'm unable to fully be sure that the product before me is what I percieve to be.

I think products could become a lot more dangerous to the public without regulation.

How would you define a fair balance between individual privacy and public security in the digital age?

  @92VHLQ8Constitution from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

The solution to crises caused by government, is not more government

a secure well managed border, a non-interventionist foreign policy, and a cohesive morally healthy society will eliminate the need for an intrusive national security apparatus.

 @9HD2YV6 from Arkansas  answered…1yr1Y

People should be free to have a platform and a 100% allowance of free speech and privacy. With this being said, there should only be security reactions when there is undeniable evidence of crime organization.

What role, if any, should a government have in regulating businesses in a free-market economy?

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

The Federal Government Shouldn't Ever Regulate Any Private Business or Organisation for Any Reason

Period.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…1yr1Y

That is an AMAZING way to fall to Fascism.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  commented…1yr1Y

It's actually called "libertarianism" stupid

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…1yr1Y

It’s called leaving corporations open to do as they please, and as such, they will influence the government to give them tax cuts or any amount of positive policy they desire, promoting monopolies and giving them profit while they sacrifice the interests of everyone else. That’s what happens under capitalism. It’s a tale as old as time.

  @92VHLQ8Constitution from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

Government should be involved in the economy as little as possible and only to ensure national interests are upheld.

The only justification for government intervention with business would be the issue of outsourcing and hiring of lower paid immigrants over equally qualified citizens.

 @9H3VHDXfrom Guam  answered…1yr1Y

Insofar as it intervenes to facilitate competition i.e. breaking up monopolies, oligopolies, anti-trust stuff, etc.

Do you think happiness is more closely tied to personal freedom or social responsibility, and why?

 @9JCMY6P from Texas  commented…1yr1Y

 @9KY6LGG from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

Defending personal freedom is one of the highest social responsibilities. There's a misconception that they're at war, but they're not. If you protect the rights of every individual within a society, that society will be prosperous and responsible. If you reject the rights of any individual who has not committed a crime, then society will be less prosperous and responsible.

How do you think people would manage the preservation of historical sites or natural wonders without government intervention?

 @9L42HDZSocialistfrom Pennsylvania  answered…1yr1Y

 @9KY6LGG from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

They would be owned by private charities, and the private courts would prosecute those who infringed on the property rights of the charities, plus the well-armed people would fend off attackers, thus protecting our historical sights and natural wonders better than government ever could.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

What impacts might a fully privatized road system have on your commute or travel habits?

 @9JQG6PM from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

 @9KY6LGG from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

The quality of the roads would significantly improve due to free-market competition, and government theft (taxation) would be replaced with voluntary transactions. Society would be freer, happier, and more virtuous.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

Do you think we could maintain a clean environment without regulations, just based on personal responsibility?

 @9K9LXBV from Nebraska  answered…1yr1Y

No, because people suck. Unfortunately, you can not rely on people taking the 4 extra steps to a trashcan to throw out their garbage, and you definitely can't trust a multimillion-dollar corporation to make decisions for the good of the environment because doing so usually costs them money, and all they care about is money. If killing the environment will fatten their wallets, then they won't just kill it, they'll eradicate it from any sense of prior existence.

 @9KY6LGG from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

By prosecuting those who litter and pollute other people's private property.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y

In a world with no government welfare, how would you support people who are unable to support themselves?

 @9H5T2K9Republicanfrom Virgin Islands  answered…1yr1Y

I would not support people who cannot support themselves. If this where to happen in our society right now, I do not think this should have been put in a democratic vote where the majority wins, if there is a largely population that would not survive in this regime it should not have been accepted. In order to create a Libertarian state every human being should be able to provide for themselves and have at least a common sense of morality whith everyone else.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…1yr1Y
