While it's true that the Democratic Party has a historical connection to the protection of slavery,…
Many nations already implement this voting method into their elections, so it's not even anything new or radical. It literally just means you rank all the candidates based on which one(s) you like most, instead of voting for a single person and having all of the problems we currently have.
Secondly, I'm pretty sure @5K2PZRB is referring to the party switch, which happened gradually throughout the 20th century, largely surrounding FDR and the Civil Rights Movement against the Republican "southern strategy". It was a pretty integral part of US history, so I'm surprised you don't know about it.
As for your last claims, I would just as easily argue that Republicans are very much against ensuring equal opportunity, just as they are blatantly in favor of stripping individual rights and passing legislation to hinder the rights of LGBT+ individuals, for example. Meanwhile, the Democrats are not much better at any of this, outside of weak, performative policies and bandaid solutions to structural problems (both parties are terrible). Neither party is advocating for equality of outcome, because that would be anti-capitalist, and both parties are violently pro-capitalism.
