Learn more about Global Warming
Global warming, or climate change, is an increase in the earth's atmospheric temperature since the late nineteenth century. In politics the debate over global warming is centered on whether this increase in temperature is due to greenhouse gas emissions or is the result of a natural pattern in the earth's temperature. Climate change is natural and trying to stop it is like counting all the grains of sand on a beach. We should do all we can within reason to leave the earth better than we found it. There should not be any laws or policies that negatively impact the American way of life. I do not agree with the radical stance that the environmental groups take trying to control our lives. I do not want more laws taking away my freedom and rights as a US citizen. I prefer a common sense approach to climate change without increasing taxes, carbon footprint assessments and invasions of privacy. 2yr ago from a Republican in Katy, TX.
We should be good stewards of what we have and come up with the most efficient ways of using fuels and try to switch to renewable resources. 1yr ago from a Republican in Normal, IL.
Our climate is important. The Global Warming advocates have lied over and over again since the 1980s. The advocates try to use the issue for world-wide social change instead of science. The world moves from ice ages to warm periods and back again. The BBC recently gave front page coverage to the lack of sunspots, during a period when they should be extremely active, with scientists warning this is causing our current cold weather. The lobal Warming advocates give us more propaganda. Every newspaper and TV news program has libraries filled with Global Warming scare stories, many of which failed completely: Polar bear populations are extremely high, the Himalayan glaciers can't possibly melt in 35 years, and there was a Medieval Warm Period - are just a few of the issues they have lied about. Strangely the media never calls then on an atrocious record of failed scare predictions and out right lies like. these quotes say it all: "We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy...Basically it's a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization...One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore." Ottmar Edenhoffer, high level UN-IPCC official. Quote by Paul Watson, a founder of Greenpeace: "It doesn't matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true.". 1yr ago from a Republican in Manchester Township, NJ.
I question the legitimacy of some of the science, and believe there are reactionary scare tactics from the hubris of the science community. However, there is enough science that we see enough things, global warming or not, are bad that we do and we should improve. 1yr ago from a Republican in Richardson, TX.
Global warming is a natural occurrence, but may also have some human intervention. The Global warming phenomenon is designed to punish rich countries and make it's supporters rich, Al Gore and Van Jones are a prime example of the exploitation. 1yr ago from a Republican in Alameda, CA.
Shifting climates have been taking place for eons, and we're just a drop in the bucket of infinite time where life is sustainable on Earth. The environment is a threat to us, and eventually more will come in natural disasters, but the more we politicize and manipulate the issue, the farther we get from being able to adapt and minimize harm and loss of life due to Mother Nature. 1yr ago from a Republican in Kennedale, TX.
Balance cost & benefit. 1yr ago from a Republican in Wellborn, TX.
Global Warming aka Climate Change has been a naturally occurring phenomenon through the history of Earth. Based on historical geological data, ice cores, and written accounts during human history, the temperature of the earth has both risen and fallen prior to the industrial revolution. Climate Change does exist, but what part man plays in an otherwise natural cycle is highly debatable. 1yr ago from a Republican in Port Saint Lucie, FL.
Global warming is a threat to humanity, not the environment. Long after we are gone, the earth will still go on. 1yr ago from a Republican in Tacoma, WA.
Yes, but it is not 100% caused by human action. 1yr ago from a Republican in Tampa, FL.
The question assumes that Global Warming as such actually exists and will persist over a long term. Because of too many of the people on each side have other agendas with respect to the issue, a truly open minded and scientifically qualified investigation should take place to clear up the issue. 1yr ago from a Republican in Paris, TN.
For the last 17 years the climate has been cooling, most likely due to decreased sunspot activity. To keep pushing the Global Warming line is like saying the spring thaw is due to man. 1yr ago from a Republican in Marysville, WA.
The Gov. MUST protect it's citizens and do all they can to eliminate the repercussions of Global Warming and STOP paying money to determine if it is true and start using the money to offset the effects of Global Warming.. 1yr ago from a Republican in Manhattan Beach, CA.
There's not enough evidence to prove we are the cause, temperature shifts happen all the time, and many scientists say a polar shift may soon happen which would cause fluctuations in climate, however we should find more efficient fuels simply in the interest of stopping the oil drilling which definitely impacts our natural world, and we should also set firm regulations on fracking for natural gas, but not totally ban it because it is one of the most important resources available in the medical, automobile, aviation, and farming industries, however ethanol, propane, and condensed hydrogen could also be useful. 1yr ago from a Republican in La Conner, WA.
The marginal impact of society's emissions over those naturally occurring events must be weighed against the cost of reducing said emissions and the participation of the entire world. 1yr ago from a Republican in Santa Barbara, CA.
If innocent animals are being extinct, then i believe that the government should clearly do something about it, and stop global warming. If they could, they should go down to Antarctica, and take the endangered ones to a shelter where they could be fed, taken care of, loved, and reproduce if needed. An example of an animal suffering from global warming is the polar bear. 1yr ago from a Republican in Laconia, NH.
Depending on where you are. 1yr ago from a Republican in Laurel, MT.
Yes, it is a threat but it is beyond our control. The real question is how we adapt to the change. 1yr ago from a Republican in La Plata, MD.
Arrogant. The Earth was here long before we were, and will be here long after we're gone. Global Warming is a money making scheme. The guys that preach the most about that crap fly around in jet airplanes getting paid lots of money to make speeches about how everyone else but them should sacrifice comforts. 1yr ago from a Republican in Nashville, TN.
I do believe we should have cleaner burning fuels but with the technology we have now. I take issue with global warming due to them not including all the studies that go against their stance. I cannot fully trust anything they say. For example, trees thrive on carbon monoxide they use to thrive on volcano's....why do they leave this out. Just an example of inconvenient truths they turn a blinds eye to for their agenda. 1yr ago from a Republican in Fairdale, KY.
Global warming and cooling are natural cycles and when the world is threatened to the extent where ALL countries want to do something then the US should be on board. 1yr ago from a Republican in Chattanooga, TN.
It is wrong to pour billions of tons of particulates of pollutants into the atmosphere whether they are causing global warming or not. We were given the Job of being good stewards of the Earth and we are failing. 1yr ago from a Republican in Wellsville, NY.
Global warming and cooling are natural cycles as seen in Earth's history (evidence found in ice cores). But we humans have speed up the process that once took thousands and thousands of year, now is see in a couple hundreds of years. 1yr ago from a Republican in Del Rey, CA.
No matter what people do, nature will warm or cool as it always has done. No amount of money can stop that; however, we can be money and environmentally efficient. 1yr ago from a Republican in Wichita Falls, TX.
Global warming and cooling are natural but it wouldnt hurt to be more economically friendly. 1yr ago from a Republican in Lincoln, NE.
We should invest in more effcient ways to make energy that will mean something. Wind, solar, and hydro are not going to be able to sustain the population alone without a large scale power production. 1yr ago from a Republican in York Harbor, ME.
No, global warming and cooling are natural cycles beyond our control, however we can take some measures to prevent the acceleration of climate change due to human activities. 1yr ago from a Republican in Naval Anacost Annex, DC.
Global warming and cooling are natural cycles as far as we can see through history. the idea that we affect it is a little arrogant. But we should do our best to conserve energy and resources and encourage innovation to develop better solutions but the government should stay out of it. 1yr ago from a Republican in Pittsburgh, PA.
Regardless of global warming each private person should know how to take care of the environment and recycling and composting centers should be available in all areas. 2yr ago from a Republican in Diablo, CA.
Everyone should try to recycle and take care of their property and automobiles. This would help the environment, regardless. 2yr ago from a Republican in Portland, TX.
Laws for pollution and dumping should be enforced by EPA. Desalination plants should be built along all our costliness for our water and power. We need to phase out the need for Petroleum and oil. Rivers that supply food (such as fish) break the dams. 2yr ago from a Republican in Reseda, CA.
Not convinced of the stated causes of global warming. Also not convinced that a cut in carbon emissions alone would solve the problem. The issue is too politicized to be able to get a cleear understanding of the problem and how to solve it. 2yr ago from a Republican in Beverly Hills, CA.
We have accelerated global warming and it is a threat to the environment as we know it, but the earth will survive even if we destroy ourselves. 2yr ago from a Republican in Cadillac, MI.
Climate change is a naturally occurring process, and I believe that we need to better understand that process and our effects on it before dedicating major resources to attempt to deal with it. 2yr ago from a Republican in Offutt A F B, NE.
Global warming and cooling are natural cycles beyond our control, but we should incentivize the private sector to prepare for these cycles. 2yr ago from a Republican in Arlington Heights, IL.
Global warming is lie invented by Al Gore. 2yr ago from a Republican in Lancaster, SC.
I'm not too sure. 2yr ago from a Republican in Mandeville, LA.
Two party system is a threat to the environment. 2yr ago from a Republican in Farmington, MI.
I am not shore of this subject. 2yr ago from a Republican in Brownwood, TX.
Global warming may be a threat to the environment but man does not play a significant role regarding the cause of Global Warming. 2yr ago from a Republican in Joplin, MO.
There is no reliable way to determine how much of what is happening is normal planetary variance, and how much is "due to man." We should be practicing conservation of resources because it's the right thing to do--not because somebody has come up with an excuse they can claim is based on science. 2yr ago from a Republican in Bountiful, UT.
Yes, but most laws meant to "end" global warming blow global warming out of proportion, doing nothing to solve the problem. 2yr ago from a Republican in Richmond, TX.
What's happening is a normal cycle and we should definitely not waste or resources trying to control what's beyond our control. 2yr ago from a Republican in Piedmont, CA.
Climate Change brought on by lack of oversight enforcement is a serious issue. 2yr ago from a Republican in Minneapolis, MN.
In my opinion, Global Threat Warning was caused by the ratio of gender in society, economic is most important. Knowledge of human being are different. Poor money but no poor knowledge. 2yr ago from a Republican in Allen, TX.
Must consider economic impacts of actions. Don't put impact on our people when other major producers refuse to take any action. Also clean up the science and insure it's verifiable and correct. 2yr ago from a Republican in Saint Augustine, FL.
Global warming may be a legitimate dynamic but we cannot allow the economy to be held hostage with Draconian regulations. 2yr ago from a Republican in Roanoke, VA.
Do we really think we can prevent nature from doing what nature must do. 2yr ago from a Republican in Norcross, GA.
Global warming is happening and there is nothing we can do for a reasonable cost that will stop it. We should invest in adapting. 2yr ago from a Republican in Scottsdale, AZ.
Something else. 3yr ago from a Republican in Dallas, TX.
