“Poverty is a subjective word, depending on where you shop. If a person owns their own home and has no debt, then they can live like a king on a minimum wage salary. I would be more in favor of the government intervening to require the banks give low interest rates to the people who are in financial trouble and really need the break, regardless of their credit history. If they have a job and can qualify for the loan, zinging them with a high interest rate ensures they'll never get out of poverty.”
