The proposition gun transfers between immediate family members or temporary transfers between hunters. Federal law currently does not require background checks for gun purchases made between two unlicensed individuals. Proponents of gun control call this the "gun show" loophole because it exempts 60% of gun sales in the U.S. from background checks. Opponents of the proposition include Governor Brian Sandoval and the NRA who argue that it will not stop gun violence and make it more difficult for law abiding citizens to protect themselves.
