Yes, Floridians who operate solar panels should have to pay extra taxes to support the costs incurred by electric companies.

Amendment 1 gives Florida residents the constitutional right to own or lease solar energy equipment. It also exempts residents who do not use solar equipment from subsidizing the backup power and electrical grid costs through their tax dollars. Proponents argue that the amendment will increase the use of solar energy in Florida.
