California Proposition 61 requires state agencies to pay the same prices that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) pays for prescription drugs. Proponents including the AIDS Health Foundation and Bernie Sanders argue that Medical is currently getting ripped off by Pharma companies. Opponents including the major Pharmaceutical Companies argue that capping costs will restrict patient's access to life-saving drugs.
